Man City Wait On Kompany Scan

Man City Wait On Kompany Scan

Manchester City face an anxious wait on Thursday, with Vincent Kompany set for a scan on his injured groin.

The City captain, blighted by a series of muscle injuries this season, pulled up holding his right leg after less than 10 minutes of Wednesday's 1-0 defeat by Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final.

He was replaced by Eliaquim Mangala and City boss Manuel Pellegrini said Kompany had suffered a groin injury - and not a new problem with his troublesome calf.

The skipper should be considered a doubt for the final two games of the Premier League season as City fight to hold on to a top-four place and Champions League qualification for next season.

City host Arsenal on Super Sunday, live on Sky Sports 1 HD from 3.30pm, and end their season with a trip to Swansea on May 15.

And a serious injury would threaten his participation with Belgium in this summer's European Championships.

Kompany recently spent a month on the sidelines after picking up a knee problem last month which was his 32nd separate injury since joining City from Hamburg in 2008.
