Man, 22, and teenage girl, 17, fighting for lives after car ploughs into wall

A 22-year-old man and a teenage girl are fighting for their lives after a car ploughed into a wall in the early hours of Sunday.

The man and the 17-year-old girl were both taken to hospital after the blue VW Golf smashed into the wall on Mellish Road in Walsall at around 1am on Sunday.

Both were left critically injured by the horror smash.

The road was closed for several hours as police launched an investigation into the incident.

West Midlands Police are now urging anyone with any information or dash cam footage to get in touch.

A spokesperson said: “Enquiries are underway and we’re urging anyone who saw anything or has any information which may assist us to get in touch.

“If you have any dash cam or mobile phone footage, or saw a blue Golf in the area before the collision please contact us as soon as possible.”

One told Birmingham Live: "There was a big bang, we even felt it through the house.

"We thought the roof of the kitchen had collapsed in so came to have a look and out of the window we saw a huge cloud of smoke."

They said neighbours came out to help as the emergency services were called.
