Man United 1-1 Young Boys LIVE! Champions League result, match stream and latest updates today
Manchester United vs Young Boys - LIVE!
It has been a rollercoaster of a Champions League group stage for Man United and the idea that they would reach this final fixture having already qualified for the last-16 as group winners seemed fanciful on more than one occasion.
United actually began their campaign with a dramatic late defeat to Young Boys in Switzerland and then needed late goals from Cristiano Ronaldo in each of their next three matches to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stage on track.
Ronaldo was on target again in matchday five as the Reds beat Villarreal to secure European football the other side of Christmas and but the Portuguese will not get chance to make it a perfect six out of six tonight as he is one of a number of first team stars rested.
Tonight’s game will see new interim boss Ralf Rangnick make his European bow in the United dugout, having seen his side beat Crystal Palace at the weekend in his first match since taking charge.

Who could United face in the last-16?
22:36 , Malik Ouzia
As a group winner, United will be drawn against a team who finished second in their group.
Uefa’s rules stipulate teams from the same country cannot meet until the quarter-final stage, so United will avoid any English opposition, ruling out Chelsea, who were the only Premier League side not to top their group.
Teams also cannot face an opponent that they have already played in the group stage, so they will not be drawn against either Atalanta or Villarreal, one of whom will qualify behind United after their postponed fixture is player.

There’s a worry for Man United after full-time here because Wan-Bissaka went down late on after colliding with the advertising hoardings and is still out there getting treatment now.
We’ll keep you updated.
FT: Man United 1-1 Young Boys
21:54 , Malik Ouzia
Nothing in it at Old Trafford, but a big night for some United youngsters and Rangnick’s men will be playing knockout football in the New Year.
21:48 , Malik Ouzia
90+1 mins: We’re playing five minutes of added time...
21:46 , Malik Ouzia
89 mins: Time for a couple more United debuts - Zidane Iqbal is on for Jesse Lingard and Charlie Savage, son of Robbie, replaces Juan Mata. Proud moments, these.
21:37 , Malik Ouzia
80 mins: Into the final ten minutes of a game that has fizzled out a bit. Young Boys are looking the more likely but the game has become increasingly scrappy as the rain pours down in Manchester.
21:30 , Malik Ouzia
72 mins: Excellent block from young Mengi. It’s actually his slip that gives Kanga the chance to run in on goal but he recovers with a superb sliding challenge as the striker goes to pull the trigger.

21:25 , Malik Ouzia
68 mins: Well, for all the talk about the young lads, this is a special moment for Tom Heaton. His second spell at the club and finally a Man United debut for the goalkeeper as he replaces Dean Henderson.
21:24 , Malik Ouzia
66 mins: Must score.
This time it’s Young Boys who are the guilty party as Silvan Hefti, just on as a sub, picks out Vincent Sierro in the middle, penalty spot, but he slides it wide.
21:20 , Malik Ouzia
62 mins: Here’s comes the first of those United youngsters then. Nineteen-year-old Teden Mengi is on for Luke Shaw, who has an hour under his belt on his return.
21:17 , Malik Ouzia
58 mins: Another glorious United chance goes begging. Brilliant from Amad again, driving and feeding Lingard, who chooses the right option in sliding in Elanga but the youngster is denied by Faivre.
21:10 , Malik Ouzia
52 mins: Typical Greenwood, shuffling inside and managing to get a shot away between the bodies with little backlift, but this one’s not got enough behind it and Faivre can gather easily.
21:07 , Malik Ouzia
49 mins: Amad Diallo is still very raw and his decision making hasn’t always been brilliant but he looks such a livewire. A real talent, and you suspect we could see some more of those off the United bench as this game wears on.
KICK-OFF!

HT: Man United 1-1 Young Boys

An entertaining affair so far.
GOAL! Man United 1-1 Young Boys | Fabian Rieder 42'
20:43 , Malik Ouzia
What a finish!
Van de Beek is guilty of gifting it away but take nothing away from the finish from Rieder, who picks out the top corner with a wonderful effort from just outside the box.
20:41 , Malik Ouzia
39 mins: There’s a VAR check going on here because Luke Shaw has tried to cushion the ball past Ngamaleu as he drives into the box. The ball certainly hits his arm but the verdict is no penalty. Not sure about that one - looked to me like he might’ve moved his arm towards it.
20:35 , Malik Ouzia
34 mins: Another huge chance!
United should be cruising here. This time Greenwood gets to the byline and he succeeds in finding Mata. His finish isn’t great but it takes a nick off a defender and that makes Faivre’s save with his feet a smart one.
20:33 , Malik Ouzia
31 mins: What are they doing here?
United have all sorts of numbers over and Lingard feeds Amad, who should probably shoot or square for Van de Beek in the centre. He does neither though, checking back inside and then lays back between Lingard and Mata, neither of whom can get to it, and the chance is gone.
20:26 , Malik Ouzia
25 mins: Juan Mata’s played a couple of dreamy, raking balls and he spots the run of Lingard down the left and finds him with another. The midfielder lays back for Shaw, who wants to run onto it and shoot, but the referee gets in his way and in the end he has to just poke a nothing cross into the middle.
20:23 , Malik Ouzia
21 mins: Good work from Dean Henderson, out sharply off his line to sweep up as Theoson Siebatcheu threatened to get on the end of a ball in behind.
Last season it looked as if his time was coming as United No1 but David de Gea has very much been back to his best this season and as a result, Henderson is another who you’d think might be trying to impress not only his new manager but also potential suitors.
20:20 , Malik Ouzia
19 mins: Ralf Rangnick is strolling around his technical area, not really saying much, looking fairly content with what he’s seen from his side so far. No chances of note since the opener, but there’s a nice zip about the men in red.
20:16 , Malik Ouzia
15 mins: Jesse Lingard’s made a might start in the middle of the park, buzzing around as is his way. It’s a bit month or so coming up for him before the January window.
GOAL! Man United 1-0 Young Boys | Mason Greenwood 9‘
20:10 , Malik Ouzia
Brilliant!
It’s top draw from Mason Greenwood, who produces a terrific acrobatic volley to fire Luke Shaw’s low cross in at the near post. A superb finish from a superb finisher.
20:08 , Malik Ouzia
7 mins: It’s been a decent open start here. Van de Beek has just made a good interception in his own box to snuff out a Young Boys break, while at the other end Amad Diallo has already threatened with a good run in behind but the angle narrowed as he tried to get his shot away.
20:04 , Malik Ouzia
3 mins: So, as well expected, Matic has started as a centre-back alongside Bailly, which means it’s a very attack-minded midfield trio of Van de Beek, Mata and Lingard.
KICK-OFF!

The teams are out at Old Trafford - almost showtime.
19:53 , Malik Ouzia
Right then, just over five minutes to go until kick-off. Nothing to play for for the home side as far as qualification is concerned, but plenty of incentive for these 11 individuals as they try to force their way into their new manager’s plans.

Rangnick announces coaching additions
19:22 , Malik Ouzia
Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick announced this week a couple of new additions to the coaching staff at Old Trafford, after the slightly surprising announcement that many staff from the previous regime, including Mike Phelan, Darren Fletcher and Kieran McKenna, would remain until at least the end of the season.
“We have decided to bring in a sport psychologist with Sascha Lense,” Rangnick explained. “He’s from Germany, he is a former Second Division player. I used to work with him for three years at Leipzig.
“I will also have one other assistant coach with Chris Armas, who used to be the assistant coach at the New York Red Bulls under Jesse Marsch. That was five years ago when I first met him.
“Since then we have met quite frequently, also in my role as head of global for Red Bull.
“For the last three-and-a-half years he was head coach for the New York Red Bulls and for Toronto in the MLS and he will again hopefully be able to join us in our next two days.”
Young Boys team news
19:08 , Malik Ouzia
Young Boys XI: Faivre; Maceiras, Lustenberger, Rieder, Lefort; Camara, Martins Pereira, Aebischer, Ngamaleu; Elia, Siebatcheu.
Subs: Zbinden, Laidani, Zesiger, Sierro, Kanga, Sulejmani, Jankewitz, Burgy, Maier, Toure, Lauper, Hefti
18:57 , Malik Ouzia
So, Ralf Rangnick has made a full 11 changes to the side that started the win over Crystal Palace at the weekend.
Luke Shaw and Jesse Lingard were both injury doubts but the pair are fit to start, while it looks like captain for the night Nemanja Matic could be asked to partner Eric Bailly in the heart of defence.
Academy players Matej Kovar, Bjorn Hardley, Teden Mengi, Charlie Savage, Zidane Iqbal and Shola Shoretire all get a spot on the bench as Rangnick gives his first team stars the night off completely.

Standard Sport prediction
18:25 , Malik Ouzia
Rangnick will be keen to get off to a winning start in Europe with United, but the bigger picture of the club already having qualified means United’s stars are likely to be rested.
If Young Boys win and Villarreal beat Atalanta, the Swiss side will finish third in the group and so they have something to play for. They caused United problems in the reverse fixture, and a much-changed home team may struggle to hit top form.

Man United team news
18:15 , Malik Ouzia
With United already confirmed as group winners, Rangnick has suggested he will make a number of changes to his side for the match, with the likes of Dean Henderson and Donny van de Beek set to start.
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored in all five of the group matches so far - whether he gets the chance to make it six remains to be seen.
Luke Shaw (head), Paul Pogba (thigh), Edinson Cavani (tendon), Raphael Varane (thigh), Anthony Martial (muscle) and Jesse Lingard (muscle) are all set to be sidelined.
