A Florida man is accused of beating a man he met online to death -- hours after the pair had sex.

Michael Harris Jr., of DeLand, has been charged with second-degree murder in the killing of 63-year-old Bobby Scott, according to a Volusia County Sheriff's Office news release.

Scott, who was from the Daytona-Beach area, disappeared on Jan. 17 and was reported missing by his husband after he didn't come home for a day. Two days later, his vehicle was found in DeLand.

Harris, who was in possession of Scott's vehicle, allegedly told deputies Scott had loaned him the vehicle after the pair had met on an app and had sex, according to police, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reports.

However, when detectives contacted Scott's husband, he said Scott never loaned his vehicle to anyone, the news release states.

Detectives confirmed that Scott had met Harris via a dating app and was never seen again after agreeing to meet up on the morning of Jan. 17. Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood called Harris an internet predator.

"Michael Harris has a history of posing as a gay prostitute and blackmailing and robbing the victims, and in this case, murdering the victim," the sheriff said, according to the News Journal.

"The victim died of blunt force trauma," Chitwood said, the paper reports. "His body was found in the woods in the 2900 block of Old New York Avenue."

According to the News Journal, Scott's husband said the couple were happily married and in an open relationship.

Before his death, Scott worked as a general manager of a popular Daytona Beach restaurant.

Harris was taken into custody Saturday and remains behind bars in Volusia County Branch Jail without bond, according to jail records. It is unclear whether he has an attorney to comment on his behalf.
