In a delightful distraction from the current state of the world, Marcus Rashford has been unveiled as the new face of Nike underwear.

In the campaign, the Manchester United forward can be seen sporting an array of Nike's new autumn/winter 2020 sweat-resistant underwear.

This marks the first time that the 22-year-old footballer and child poverty activist has fronted an apparel campaign.

Nike also employed the faces of fellow athletes, NFL star Jarvis Landry, and brand ambassadors, Akin Akman and Ariel Foxie to launch the new underwear.

The Nike launch follows the news that Mancunian Rashford looks set to be omitted from making the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year shortlist.

Rashford, who also plays football for England, has made headlines across the UK in recent weeks thanks to his campaigning for free school meals to be offered during the school holidays.

Last week MPs controversially voted down Rashford’s bid to extend free school meals over half term. The bid was defeated by 322 votes to 261 - with a majority of 61.
