Market overview: Footsie regains 5900 as Obama wins four more years

LONDON (ShareCast) - 0804: With another four years in the bag for President Obama, markets can get back to worrying about other things such as the Eurozone. Mining (Euronext: SMI.NX - news) stocks are lifting Footsie (FTSE: ^FTSE - news) higher, though without the help of gold digger Randgold Resources (Other OTC: RGORF.PK - news) , which, even by the admission of its own boss, released a 'mixed bag' of results this morning. In contrast, diversified resources firm Vedanta is surging higher after an impressive set of interim figures. The trading update from Burberry has also been well-received, but Serco (Other OTC: SECCF.PK - news) 's statement has prompted selling of the outsourcing firm's stock. FTSE 100 (FTSE Index: EO100.FGI - news) is up 16 at 5,900.
