The BBC announced on Friday that the MasterChef final would no longer be shown that day after all non-news programming on the BBC was to be rescheduled for another time after the announcement of Prince Philip’s death.

But it's now been announced that the MasterChef 2021 final will air tomorrow (Wednesday 14 April).

The final of the current series of MasterChef was set to air on BBC One at 8.30pm on Friday 9 April with Tom Rhodes, Mike Tomkins and Alexina Anatole in competition to be crowned the winner of this year’s MasterChef. But along with the likes of The One Show, EastEnders, The Great British Menu, and other entertainment series, it wasn't shown so as to clear the BBC’s schedule for ongoing coverage of the Duke Of Edinburgh’s death.

It was announced at midday on Friday that 99-year-old Prince Philip had passed away peacefully that morning.

Buckingham Palace confirmed Prince Philip’s death with a statement that read: “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.

“The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.”

Our thoughts are with the royal family at this sad time.
