"Man, what's up with all these bank holidays," said no one ever.

They're basically days when everyone pulls a sickie and bosses go along with it. They're what makes Spring hands down the best season. Having only one full working week between Easter weekend and May bank holiday? Yes please.

But if instead of making a duvet cocoon, you've got a hankering after some DIY, then look no further to find out which DIY retailers are open and when over the May bank holiday weekend.

Argos

While you may have forgotten to click-and-collect and have your item delivered to a Sainsbury's ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend, you can still pop into an Argos store.

Opening times will vary store by store. The locator is here, with detailed times for each store.

B&Q

If DIY car maintenance is more you, then B&Q stores in the UK will open at the normal time on Monday and close at 8pm, apart from B&Q Grimsby which will open 9am and close at 5pm.

To find your nearest B&Q, take a look at the website.

Currys PC World

Where in the world? You got it. It's PC World. The electricals specialist's opening times this weekend vary store-by-store, so you may be better off checking their website's useful store locator, which lets you find the stores by address.

Halfords

Bank Holiday's are perfect for bike rides, but if you realise you no longer fit your old bike (or just want to treat yourself to a brand new one), then Halfords could be the place for you.

The out-of-town retailer is open as normal on Saturday and Sunday, with stores open on Monday at 9am but only until 6pm in the majority of cases.

The store locator details which store is open when.

Homebase

Homebase stores in England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be open from 7am to 8pm on Saturday and Monday, while normal hours will be operating on Sunday.

It may still be worth visiting the retailer's website before making the trip.

Ikea

Ikea has "special" opening times for the bank holiday, and will generally be open from 9am or 10am until 8pm on Monday in many cases.

On Sunday, Ikea stores will generally be open from 11am to 5pm, but some stores do have different opening hours, so it's best to check before you make the trip out.

For up-to-date information on those hours, check out the Swedish retailer's website.

John Lewis

Although the retailer prides itself on being never knowingly undersold, when it comes to bank holiday opening hours, it's slightly less clear-cut.

Many stores appear to be operating slightly reduced hours on Monday and should be either open between 10am and 6pm or 10am and 8pm. Make sure you time your visit by checking the store locator on its website

Wickes

Most stores are open between 6.30am and 9pm on Saturday and Monday, although there are a handful of exceptions. You can check and see if your store is one of them right here.

Whats the weather going to be like this weekend?
