* Russian tycoon Oleg Deripaska, who for years wanted to obtain control over Norilsk Nickel, may become a board member of the company, Kommersant daily says, citing sources familiar with the matter.
* Deripaska's Rusal (HKSE: 0486-OL.HK - news) aluminium producer owns a 27.8 percent stake in Norilsk Nickel, Russia's mining giant.
* Norilsk's board to consider new board members on April 5, Kommersant's sources say.
* Nornickel and Rusal declined to comment, Kommersant says.
