Mainstream fashion has a ways to go before it will truly be inclusive. Until then, indie fashion brands like Wray are making room for fashion that’s size-inclusive, sustainable and has ethical practices with their production. What’s more? Wray is a Latina-owned brand.
Named after the founder Wray Serna, Wray clothing stands out for the way it combines fashion, art and function. According to the website, “Wray clothes are not a flash in the pan.” Rather, they are statement pieces inspired by fine art, made to be wearable for everyday use. Not to mention, unlike some fast-fashion pieces, these won’t fall apart in a short time period. The brand makes every piece to last — hence the price point.
While the clothes aren’t necessarily budget-friendly, the brand prides itself on collecting its materials from recycling and using compostable shipping materials when sending products out to customers. Not to mention, Wray works in tandem with its production houses across Peru, India and Shanghai to ensure employees have ethical working conditions, including paid sick leave, maternity/paternity leave, maximum 40 hour work weeks and holidays off.
