Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have revealed the sex of their second child in their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey... and they're having a baby girl!

The highly anticipated interview finally aired last night in the United States, and will be broadcast in full this evening (Monday 8 March) in the UK on ITV at 9pm. The gender of Meghan and Harry's unborn child is just one of the fascinating things we've learned about the couple through the conversation...

The news of a baby sister for Archie arrived in the part of the interview involving Prince Harry alongside his wife Meghan. "It’s a girl," he told Oprah, and reiterated that the couple don't plan to have any more children after this (which is something he has publicly said before). "Two it is," he added.

When asked his reaction to finding out they're expecting a little girl, the Duke of Sussex shared: "Amazing. Just grateful. To have any child, any one or two, would be amazing. But to have a boy and then a girl, what more could you ask for? Now we’ve got our family, the four of us and our two dogs. It’s great."

Prince Harry previously explained he and his wife only planned to have two children because of the environmental impact. In an interview he did with ethologist Dr Jane Goodall for wife Meghan Markle's guest-edited issue of British Vogue back in September 2019, Prince Harry said on the matter, "Two, maximum!"

"I’ve always thought: this place is borrowed," he continued. "And, surely, being as intelligent as we all are, or as evolved as we all are supposed to be, we should be able to leave something better behind for the next generation."

While they didn't let on at the time, after stepping down as senior royal family members it emerged that the Sussexes also knew they were having a boy with Archie the first time round. In an unauthorised biography on Meghan and Harry written by royal reporters Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, Finding Freedom, it was revealed: "Harry and Meghan already had a name ready to go when Archie was born, because the couple had known all along that they were having a boy. According to a source, they settled on their son's name some time during the final week of her pregnancy."

We still don't know Meghan's daughter's due date, but by the looks of her bump when the Duke and Duchess revealed their happy news on Valentine's Day, it's expected to be some time in May or June. Congratulations to the Meghan and Harry on the fourth and final piece of their family puzzle!
