Meghan Markle won't be coming back to the UK with Prince Harry

Megan Markle will not be returning to the UK next month with husband Prince Harry, in news that will surprise literally no-one. The mum-of-two gave birth less than two weeks ago, and will instead remain at the Montecito home she shares with Harry, two-year-old Archie, and newborn baby Lili.

Royal correspondent Victoria Ward shared the news on Twitter that Meghan will not accompany Prince Harry when he returns to his native UK for the unveiling of a statue honouring Princess Diana. The statue of the late Princess will be installed in the Sunken Garden of London's Kensington Palace on 1 July, marking what would have been Diana's 60th birthday.

"The Princes hope that the statue will help all those who visit Kensington Palace to reflect on their mother's life and her legacy," Kensington Palace previously said about the poignant installation.

This will be the second time the Duchess of Sussex misses out on a trip to London, where she previously lived for two-and-a-half years, due to completely understandable pregnancy and post-partum reasons. In April, when Meghan was almost eight months pregnant, Harry flew back to the UK to attend his grandfather, Prince Philip's funeral. Upon doctor's orders (because it's not safe to fly so far into a pregnancy) the Duchess remained in California with son Archie.

The reason for Harry's trip is undeniably important, as it's to honour his late mother. Otherwise, you wouldn't imagine he'd be keen to fly across the Atlantic less than a month after the arrival of his daughter, Lilibet 'Lili' Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. Lili's name is a tribute to her grandmother, Diana, as well as her great-grandmother, the Queen, whose childhood nickname was Lilibet.

According to the Daily Mail, the Queen has reportedly invited Harry for lunch at Windsor Castle while he's in the UK in July. It will be the second time he has seen his family since the couple's controversial Oprah Winfrey interview.

Here's hoping Harry and Meghan are settling nicely into being parents of two, and that Prince Harry's trip home in honour of mother is a special time.
