Merkel discussed EU finances in calls with Poland, Hungary - spokesman
BERLIN (Reuters) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel held talks with the prime ministers of Poland and Hungary on the European Union's budget and the planned recovery fund yesterday, her spokesman Steffen Seibert said on Friday.
Merkel was seeking to facilitate an agreement on EU finances that would get the backing of the European Parliament as well as of members countries, Seibert added, without giving details on the discussions held on Thursday.
