Merry Christmas: Logan Ryan agrees to 3-year, $31 million extension with Giants

Just when you thought a Playstation 5 was the biggest gift of the holiday season, the New York Giants went out and found something even bigger for a veteran cornerback.

Logan Ryan announced on Friday that he has agreed to a three-year extension with the Giants.

The deal is worth a total of $31 million deal with $20 million guaranteed, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Ryan landed with the Giants this season on a one-year, $7.5 million deal after a drawn-out free agency. The Giants had found themselves pretty needy at cornerback after the arrest and release of DeAndre Baker, the opt-out of Sam Beal and the foot fracture of rookie Xavier McKinney.

Ryan, previously a member of the Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots, had been seeking a larger deal over the summer, but instead had to take a prove-it deal with the Giants. Now, he’s getting the money he was looking for.

The deal rewards Ryan for to a strong season amid a tough campaign for the 5-9 Giants. In 14 games with New York, Ryan has posted 83 tackles, nine pass deflections, three forced fumbles, one interception, one fumble recovery and one sack. He has also spoken glowingly about the Giants’ culture under rookie head coach Joe Judge, particularly when advice from a Giants trainer potentially saved his wife’s life.
