Michelle Keegan has turned down Strictly Come Dancing 'a few times'

Michelle Keegan has turned down offers from Strictly Come Dancing "a few times" because she's "too scared" to dance in front of the studio audience.

The former Coronation Street star has no intention of following in her husband Mark Wright's footsteps by signing up for the BBC dancing competition as she has witnessed firsthand how nerve-wracking it is in the Strictly studio.

"I have (been asked) a few times. But for me, it's the live audience... it's a skill. It takes a lot of dedication and skill," she said on The Jonathan Ross Show. "He (Mark) did it like five years ago. It's the music before it happens and the audience is really quiet and the lights come on. My heart was in my mouth for him. I couldn't be on the dancefloor, too scared, too nervous."

Former TOWIE star Mark competed on the show in 2014 and came in fourth place with his professional partner Karen Hauer. They were beaten by Frankie Bridge, Blue's Simon Webbe and the winner, Caroline Flack.

Since leaving Corrie, Michelle has become known for her long-term roles in Our Girl and Brassic, and when asked which part she's most proud of, she told Jonathan, "I'd say Our Girl just because I was away from home for a long time. One of the seasons I did I was living away for eight months. I was in Nepal, Malaysia, South Africa. I had a great time, I was lucky, but it was hard to be away from home."
