Microchip Technology (MCHP) Launches New Wireless Modem

Microchip Technology Inc. MCHP recently announced the launch of the RN2903 wireless modem as an efficient way to add long-range LoRaWAN network capability to any embedded design. The new modem is the latest FCC (Federal Communications Commission) certified device in Microchip's LoRa range and works with certified North American Low-Power Wide-Area Networks (LPWAN).

The RN2903 is expected to be the ideal end-node solution for LoRaWAN implementation, owing to its cost-effective design and adaptability. LoRa technology targets low data rates and low-duty-cycle applications such as energy metering, location tracking, utility infrastructure monitoring and control, smart city and agriculture. The RN2903 is already available and Microchip expects rapid market implementation of the wireless modem due to its simple ASCII-over-UART interface, which can be controlled by any embedded system.

Microchip is developing and introducing a wide range of innovative and proprietary new products. The new invention will reinforce the company’s product portfolio and consequently augment its revenues in the near future. Microchip develops and manufacturers microcontrollers, memory and analog and interface products for embedded control systems, which are small, low-power computers designed to perform specific tasks.

Microchip continues to capitalize on its business potential by developing and introducing a wide range of innovative and proprietary new products. Striking features such as quality, performance, reliability, ease of use, pricing and diversity of products make Microchip one of the better-positioned companies in the semiconductor universe.
