Microsoft (MSFT) Gains But Lags Market: What You Should Know

Microsoft (MSFT) closed at $262.63 in the latest trading session, marking a +1.23% move from the prior day. The stock lagged the S&P 500's daily gain of 1.4%.

Heading into today, shares of the software maker had gained 5.82% over the past month, lagging the Computer and Technology sector's gain of 7.26% and outpacing the S&P 500's gain of 1.07% in that time.

Wall Street will be looking for positivity from MSFT as it approaches its next earnings report date. The company is expected to report EPS of $1.90, up 30.14% from the prior-year quarter.
