By Liz Moyer

Investing.com -- U.S. stocks extended their losses, falling deeper into a bear market on fears of a global growth slowdown. Here are the midday movers for Sept. 27:

Hertz Global Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:HTZ), the rental car giant that recently announced a plan to buy electric vehicles from General Motors (NYSE:GM), rose 1.9% on Monday after announcing a plan with BP (NYSE:BP) to install EV charging stations across the U.S. Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) shares fell 2.3% after the automaker said it would invest $700 million in a Kentucky facility designed to make the F-series pickup truck, adding 500 manufacturing jobs. Novavax Inc (NASDAQ:NVAX) shares jumped 6% after the maker of a Covid-19 vaccine said another one million doses would be available for use in the U.K. Jabil Circuit Inc (NYSE:JBL) stock rose 1.3% after the contract electronics maker reported better than expected fiscal fourth quarter results and issued a positive forecast and stock buyback. Southwest Airlines Company (NYSE:LUV) shares were flat as the carrier said it would suspend operations in Tampa and nearby Florida cities tonight at 5 p.m. ahead of Hurricane Ian's expected landfall in the area.
