Miley Cyrus has opened up about the ways the coronavirus pandemic has impacted her dating life, revealing that she is relying on “a lot of FaceTime sex”.

The pop star shared the intimate detail on Wednesday during an interview on The Howard Stern Show, where she explained the reliance on FaceTime is a safety measure.

“I do a lot of FaceTime sex - it’s the safest sex. I’m not getting Covid,” she told Stern. “I am definitely not going to be doing anything that’s irresponsible for myself or for other people … it’s just ridiculous for anybody that won’t take the right precautions to keep each other safe. It’s f***ed up.”

But even with technology, the 28-year-old said the pandemic has made being single difficult.

“This time has been really interesting and challenging for any sort of dating or meeting people,” she acknowledged.

In response to Stern’s offer to set her up with someone, the Midnight Sky singer said she is “down for whatever, honestly” while confirming that she doesn’t have a preference when it comes to gender.

“I love people, I love who I love, I’ve had relationships with all genders and I’m down,” she said.

As for what she is looking for in a partner, the singer denied assumptions that she’s a “free bird,” explaining that she actually “loves structure”.

“I am not a free bird. I love structure. Structure keeps me safe and keeps me my best and I love to be anchored and weighted by people,” she said. “I don’t want to be friends with feathers, I want you to be, like, cement for me.”

Cyrus made similar comments over the summer after her 10-month relationship with Cody Simpson ended.

“I usually end up complaining they're boring, but that's what I need. I need boring," the singer said during an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast in August. "... I definitely, definitely need a calming, I need an anchor, I need a weight."

During the wide-ranging interview with Stern, Cyrus also discussed her relationship with ex-husband Liam Hemsworth, who she first started dating when she was 16 before later marrying in 2018.

Admitting that she doesn’t “know if we ever really thought we were actually going to get married,” the songwriter acknowledged that the loss of her and Hemsworth’s Malibu home in a November 2018 fire had an impact on their relationship.

“I just clung to what I had left of that house which was me and him and I really do and did love him very, very, very much,” she said.
