Mirantis Expands Into Japanese Market

Opens Subsidiary, Partners With ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation (CTC) to Deliver Innovative OpenStack Solutions

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwired - Feb 3, 2015) - Mirantis, the pure-play OpenStack company, today announced a new subsidiary, Mirantis Japan GK, with the opening of its Japanese headquarters in Tokyo, and a partnership with ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation (CTC).

Mirantis' expansion into Japan follows rapid international growth in 2014, including new offices in China, France, and Netherlands. Japan is the leading innovator in cloud computing, topping the Asia Cloud Computing Association's Cloud Readiness Index 2014 three years in a row. Mirantis' Tokyo office will deliver local sales, marketing, and customer support, and serve as a nexus of local channel and technology partners.

CTC is the first Strategic Partner in Japan to align with Mirantis, delivering Mirantis OpenStack to companies eager for an antidote to the lock-in of traditional IT. The company offers complex end-to-end IT solutions and services to enterprises across telecommunications, broadcasting, manufacturing, financial services, retail, distribution, utilities, and the public sector segments.

"OpenStack is a natural extension of CTC's portfolio of compute, storage and networking partners. IT companies and service providers have shown tremendous interest in how OpenStack unlocks SDN, NFV, SDS and big data, and delivers dramatic cost savings, extensibility, and control," said Masaaki Matsuzawa, Director and Senior Vice President, CTC. "We chose to work with Mirantis because they are the dominant player in OpenStack with the most hardened distribution and the deepest technical expertise."

Open source and cloud infrastructure veteran executive Ataru Shimodaira will lead operations in Mirantis' Japan office as its regional director. Shimodaira brings over 15 years of sales experience, and joins Mirantis from Limelight Networks. Prior to Limelight, Shimodaira was the director of enterprise sales for Red Hat Japan, where he closely managed the company's direct sales presence in Japan.

"Shimodaira's extensive experience representing international companies in Japan will enable us to build a network of partners, and to bring Mirantis' software, services and training to the Japanese market," said Dr. Amitabh Shah, VP, Global Business Development at Mirantis. "We are thrilled to begin that journey with CTC. They have some of the best expertise in delivering and managing complex large cloud infrastructures, and they intimately know the heartbeat of the Japanese IT market."

Mirantis' new Japan office is located in the Marounochi district of Tokyo. Contact the office at info.jp@mirantis.com.
