Miriam Margolyes has let rip at both Boris Johnson and Donald Trump, labelling the prime minister a “clown” and implying the US president was an “a*******”.

The Harry Potter actor did not hold back when it came to sharing her thoughts on the politicians during an interview on Good Morning Britain.

She also revealed she was keen to get her coronavirus vaccine and described anti-vaxxers as “nuts”.

Chatting to the ITV show’s presenters Ben Shephard and Susanna Reid, Margolyes said: “Of course one must have the vaccine, those anti-vaxxers are nuts.

“No, I’m hoping that I get a vaccine as soon as possible. I’m 79 so I’m not quite 80 yet, I’ll be 80 in May and I may be able to have it in Italy before I come (back to the UK).”

The star said she was not returning to England “until it’s safe to go”.

“I mean, you’ve got that clown in charge there that I didn’t vote for and I’m holding him responsible for a lot of this mess,” she said.

Trump did not come out unscathed either, with the actress saying she was “astonished and disgusted” at the president following the US Capitol riots.

“I know it’s morning television and I have to be careful about what I say about that man, let’s say that it ends with hole and starts with a,” she said.

“I just long to see the back of him,” she continued.

It wasn’t the first time that Margolyes has lashed out at Johnson.

Last year she caused a stir following an appearance on Channel 4’s The Last Leg when she admitted she “had difficulty not wanting Boris Johnson to die” after learning he had COVID-19.

The comments prompted shocked responses from the show’s hosts but Margolyes quickly went on to say that, despite her initial thoughts, she didn’t want to be “the sort of person that wants people to die” and really did want him to get better.

The prime minister was diagnosed with the coronavirus early in the pandemic.
