A man and woman are accused of murdering a 50-year-old woman who'd been reported missing, and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say they are looking for other potential victims of the suspects.

The body of Rose Kerwin, 50, was found in the Mississippi River near Pakenham in Ontario on Nov. 12., 2023, Detective Inspector Jennifer Patton of the Ontario Provincial Police said in a video posted to X, formerly known as Twitter.

Kerwin was reported missing on Nov. 13, and detectives eventually identified her body on Nov. 17, according to CTV News Ottawa.

Patton noted that officers received a separate report of a sexual assault in Carlton Place, Ont., a few days later on Nov. 15, 2023, which led them to suspects Marcel Lapensee and Samantha Obsorne.

“As a result, [Lapensee and Obsorne] have been arrested and charged in connection with both investigations,” Patton said in the video.

“The investigation has revealed the accused both used aliases on social media, which include ‘Maxx Power’ and ‘Sammi,'" Patton alleged.

Patton did not say how police were able to connect the two cases, but noted to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) that those aliases were allegedly used on a dating site. Due to this finding, police say they are widening their search.

“We’re concerned there may be other victims,” said Patton in the video. “We are asking anyone who may have interacted with the accused to contact police.”

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) reported that Lapensee, 56, from Carleton Place, and Osborne, 23,  from Iroquois, Ont., were both arrested on charges of first-degree murder in connection with Kerwin’s death. The OPP told the outlet that the pair were also facing charges of forcible confinement and sexual assault related to the second case.

It's not clear if they've entered pleas to the charges or retained counsel.

Patton said that Kerwin’s car, described as a blue 2013 Mazda GX four-door sedan with the license plate “CSXW 383,” is still missing, and police are asking the public’s help to find it in order to possibly shed some light on Kerwin’s death.

The OPP is still investigating the incident. Patton said anyone with information can contact detectives directly at the OPP’s tip line at 1-844-677-9400.
