Mom-to-be baffled by husband’s ‘stupid’ baby name suggestion: ‘Children are not billboards’

A 24-year-old mom-to-be cut off contact with her fiancé over their child’s name.

She explained what happened on Reddit’s “Am I the A******” forum. Her fiancé’s last name is Frost and he insisted that he name their daughter “Emma.” The mom didn’t like the name and after a quick Google search she found the Marvel character Emma Frost from the X-Men series. She told him she wouldn’t name their child after a comic book character, but he refused.

“My fiancé’s last name is Frost and the baby is a girl,” she explained. “He brought up the name Emma for her before. I thought nothing of it and said I don’t really like the name but he seemed to push and say it’s a perfect match for Frost. I got suspicious and googled Emma Frost only to find she’s a comic book character. I told him I didn’t like how he didn’t tell me what the name was from and didn’t want to name my daughter after a comic book character. He got mad and went on a rant about how she’s his daughter too and he gets a day. This argument was a month ago and he has rejected every name I’ve suggested and told me he won’t agree to anything other than Emma.”

After making the post the mom added another shocking update.

“I was informed right after posting this that Emma’s mother is named Hazel and that is my name so I have a suspicion he may have started dating me because of that. I’m at my mother’s and having no contact with him currently while I figure this all out,” she wrote.

Reddit users did not support the father-to-be.

“I hate it when people play stupid games with naming children,” someone wrote.

“Children are not billboards for your fandoms,” another said.

“He wants you to name your daughter after a barely dressed comic book character,” a user commented.
