Mom claps back at TikToker who made nasty remark about her body: ‘You don’t know the struggles I’ve had’

This mom had the perfect response to a callous TikToker who left a body-shaming comment on her video, and people are applauding her message of forgiveness, grace and joy.

Jen Nicole (@jen_nicole33) describes herself as a self-love advocate, something she embodies with her honest and positive TikTok videos.

But when she received an ugly comment on one of those videos, she filmed the perfect response.

The rude comment was posted in response to a video in which Jen dances and lip-syncs to the Regina Spektor song “Folding Chair” — specifically the verses, “I’ve got a perfect body / But sometimes I forget / I’ve got a perfect body / ‘Cause my eyelashes catch my sweat.”

Evidently, a TikTok user (whose username Jen graciously censored) was perturbed by Jen’s message of body acceptance and chose to write the comment, “False, get healthy, get fit.”

Jen, who has been very open about her experience with eating disorders and recovery in past videos, felt it was important to inform the stranger that they know nothing about her body, her fitness levels, or the struggles she’s had in life.

“You don’t know the struggles I’ve had with my body — even though I’ve been pretty vocal about those,” she says in the video. “I’m gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you haven’t seen any of that and that you don’t know.”

“So I’m going to advise you: Before you leave crusty-a** comments like this on anyone else’s videos of themselves trying to accept the beauty of their body for what it is and where it is and all that it is, that you simply… not,” she continues. “Not saying anything goes a really long way when you don’t know a lot about a lot.”

Jen goes on to say, “Having said that, I don’t judge you, and I do forgive you. I do think that sometimes we just don’t know enough. That’s when we should be quiet. You just don’t know by looking at someone what they’ve been through, and we should never be commenting on people’s bodies, ever. Ever.”

In the end, Jen chooses to end her video on a note of positivity and joy: “Also, if you’ve stuck around this long, your existence is worthy of joy. Through and through. No matter the state of your body. Your body will never be worthy of shame, and you will always be worthy of a joyful existence. Love to you all.”

‘Your words were kind when they were not…’

TikTokers were touched by Jen’s video and left hundreds of loving comments in response.

“Watching this was the best 2 minutes of my day. Now off to spend the rest of it living joyfully!” one user wrote.

“I respect you for not putting them on blast and educating them. That’s a leader!” another user commented.

“Nailed it sister!!! And was soooo classy about it,” wrote another user.

“You handle people like that with such grace. You are beautiful, inside and out. Much love!!!” another user wrote.

“Your words were kind when they were not. You blocked their name to spare them the hate they so easily spewed. You are an amazing person,” wrote one user.

“I think they’re struggling with loving themselves. Great response from a queen,” commented another user.

“This made me cry. You are such a beautiful person and it hurts my heart when people can be so thoughtless. Thank you for handling this flawlessly,” shared another user.

“Hurt people hurt people. You’re a queen,” commented another user.

“I wish I had the confidence to not listen to people’s comments about my body! You are beautiful and such an inspiration to me,” one user shared. To this, Jen replied, “It still stings, even on my best days. But their words are a reflection of them, not YOU!”
