Yahoo Finance Mom transforms Dollar Tree pumpkins into adorable holiday keepsakes
This TikTok parent shared an adorable and inexpensive Halloween art project you can do with your kids!
KD (@its.me.kd) is a parent of two who loves sharing fun arts and crafts projects on TikTok. KD recently shared a Halloween-themed art project that’s fun for kids, perfect for parents on a budget, and produces a keepsake you’ll want to hang onto for years.

In the video, KD shows how to make one-of-a-kind Halloween decorations by decorating wooden pumpkin cutouts with your child’s footprints and handprints.
KD starts by grabbing 3 inexpensive wooden pumpkin cutouts from a dollar store. She paints one pumpkin orange, one purple, and one black, then paints each pumpkin’s stem a different color.
Then, KD begins painting her children’s feet. First, she paints her eldest child’s foot with white, orange, and yellow stripes, then firmly places their foot onto the black pumpkin, holding it still for long enough to leave a clear painted imprint. Next, she paints her younger child’s foot white and places it beside the first footprint on the black pumpkin.
KD continues painting her kids’ hands and feet different colors and placing them on the pumpkins until each pumpkin has two hand or foot imprints. Then, KD begins adding stickers, googly eyes, and other handmade decorations.

She decorates the pumpkins with sparkly ghost, pumpkin, and bat stickers, then gets to work transforming the handprints and footprints into classic Halloween characters. KD places a witch’s hat on one handprint, then adds googly eyes, and uses a marker to draw a nose and mouth, to turn the handprint into a witch. Using nothing more than googly eyes and markers, she turns another handprint into a spider, and transforms the footprints into a spooky bat and a monster.
Finally, KD writes the year on the back of each pumpkin, then attaches the pumpkins to each other with twine. The video ends as KD hangs the adorable pumpkin decorations on her wall.
Viewers couldn’t get enough of KD’s spooky and creative Halloween decorations.
