Morning Live, BBC One's New Daytime Show, Gets A Mixed Reaction After Launch Show

Viewers have had a mixed reaction following the launch of the BBC’s new daytime show Morning Live.

The 45-minute daily show debuted on Monday morning, with Gethin Jones and Kym Marsh on presenting duties.

During their first episode at the helm, the pair led discussions about coronavirus face masks and dangerous cladding, as well as interviewing Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood.

While it was airing, Morning Live sparked plenty of discussion on social media, and while it went up against Lorraine Kelly’s show in terms of timeslots, many viewers couldn’t help but make comparisons with another of ITV’s staple daytime shows

Morning Live’s set also raised some eyebrows, with many commenting it looked a little on the dated side…

It has to be said, though, that plenty of fans were also impressed with Gethin and Kym’s new venture…

Morning Live will air after BBC Breakfast every weekday for the next eight weeks, with reports recently claiming that if it proves popular, it could return in 2021

At the beginning of the show, Kym explained: “Every morning for the next eight weeks we will be here to get your thoughts on the things that matter most to you, and we are not only here to listen, we really want to solve some problems too.”

We have got a team of experts who have been working flat out behind the scenes to bring you the best advice,” Gethin added.

The BBC’s new daytime offering was first announced last month, and was billed as a morning show with a similar approach to The One Show, which airs on weekday evenings.

A BBC press release promised that Morning Live would “put audiences at the heart of the conversation, with great company and expert advice from a team of presenters who will guide viewers through the mornings”.

Morning Live airs at 9.15am on BBC One.
