On this episode of 1K Dream Room, host Will Taylor (@brightbazaar) heads to Manhattan’s Upper West Side to help Erin transform her multipurpose studio apartment into a more cohesive and stylish space for just $1,000. Erin doesn’t feel like the design of her studio matches her personality, and asks Will to help her turn it into something contemporary and modern while still being cozy.

Will begins by getting rid of Erin’s old fashioned nightstand and swaps it for a wood with rattan nightstand that feels more modern. Then, Will builds on this subdued color theme by decorating the wall with a circular wooden shelf the same color as the nightstand, and a jute area rug that compliments them perfectly.

Next, Will adds a pop of color to the room by placing a pink fringed ottoman beside the nightstand. Not only does the ottoman bring color to the subdued bedroom area of the studio, but it adds a bit of extra seating for Erin and her future guests!

Will finishes off the bedroom section of the studio by replacing Erin’s old barebones bed frame with a more grownup frame which features a plush pink headboard. Then, he hangs several Matisse prints over the bed to personalize the space.

Once the bedroom area is complete, Will moves onto the living area of the studio. He chooses a round hammered drum coffee table and decorates it with several colorful vases. Then, he pulls the space together with a beige and white dotted rug.

Finally, Will adds billowy white curtains to the windows, which he notes will help to soften the space while still letting plenty of light in.

When Erin sees the finished room for the first time, she can hardly believe her eyes! She is particularly impressed by the new bed frame, the curtains, and the lovely Matisse prints Will has chosen. “This is incredible,” she tells Will. “This is not the same apartment.”
