#MyHomeMyStyle: 'Lockdown was best housewarming gift ever!'
As an artist, Sharmila Patil is constantly in search of two things: the right light and all things handmade. Her Pune home is testament to this; every corner a well-curated spot of sunshine. “My husband and I were pretty sure of how we wanted to go about the home. Right from designing the electrical layout to the last cushion, it’s all done by us. Every mistake is our own and ones that we cherish with great pride,” says the lifestyle photographer and blogger.
Sharmila and her family of four moved into the Pune duplex a little over a year ago. Since then, the home’s evolving minimalist farmhouse aesthetic has grown to define her Instagram grid. Its neutral shell is complemented with warm, straight-lined wooden furniture. Furthermore, the space is layered in naked, natural textures seen in wickerwork, embroidered linen, terracotta décor and a restrained use of floral arrangements.
“[The lockdown] was some of the best days I have spent with my boys. We enjoyed every corner of the home together as a family. It was indeed the best housewarming ever,” she concludes.
