Nabors Industries (NBR) Reports Q4 Loss, Tops Revenue Estimates

Nabors Industries (NBR) came out with a quarterly loss of $3.89 per share versus the Zacks Consensus Estimate of a loss of $1.06. This compares to loss of $14.60 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items.

This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of -266.98%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this drilling contractor would post a loss of $3.71 per share when it actually produced a loss of $5.54, delivering a surprise of -49.33%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has not been able to surpass consensus EPS estimates.

Nabors , which belongs to the Zacks Oil and Gas - Drilling industry, posted revenues of $769.34 million for the quarter ended December 2022, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 4.75%. This compares to year-ago revenues of $543.7 million. The company has topped consensus revenue estimates four times over the last four quarters.

The sustainability of the stock's immediate price movement based on the recently-released numbers and future earnings expectations will mostly depend on management's commentary on the earnings call.

Nabors shares have added about 10.1% since the beginning of the year versus the S&P 500's gain of 7.1%.

Transocean's revenues are expected to be $628.5 million, down 6.3% from the year-ago quarter.
