Yahoo Finance NBA betting: If you're a disillusioned Knicks fan, at least you can bet on them having NBA's worst record
Betting on which NBA team will have the most losses this season can be fun, if you’re a fan of misery.
BetMGM offers a prop bet on which team will have the most losses this regular season, which starts Tuesday. When you bet the under on a team’s win total in any sport, you’re committing to rooting against that team each game, which can be weird. To bet on a team being the worst in the league takes that to a different level. You’re not just rooting for one team to lose, you’re hoping they lose more than any other team in the league.
The team that might cause the most misery to its fanbase is the New York Knicks, and they’re the co-favorite to finish this season with the most losses.
Knicks, Cavs favored to finish with most losses
If Knicks fans are expecting another terrible season for their team, at least they can profit off it.

Every other team is at least +1200. There are odds listed for each team. If you hate the Los Angeles Lakers, you can bet on them to lead the league in losses at 2000-to-1. You won’t win, but it might be cathartic.
The Knicks might be a little more prudent pick. There isn’t a lot of talent in New York, unless rookie first-round pick Obi Toppin is an instant star or second-year wing R.J. Barrett takes a big leap. Even then, the Knicks’ rotation is filled with inefficient offensive players. New coach Tom Thibodeau has a long year ahead, but for this bet, only one team needs to be worse.
Which team will finish with the most losses?
If the Knicks are just a little better than expected, maybe there is a chance to cash the most losses prop on a team with some longer odds.
Oklahoma City is tearing things down and might keep moving veteran pieces. OKC has Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and not much else. Even at +400 there might be some value on them to lead the league in losses, especially if they keep trading veterans.
The longest shot that creates a little intrigue is the Houston Rockets. If they end up trading James Harden, John Wall can’t bounce back from injuries and some of their other offseason changes don’t fit, they could struggle. It’s obviously not likely the Rockets drop that far, but they are 150-to-1 to lead the NBA in losses and there’s a somewhat realistic path for them to make a run at it.
Some team is going to have a miserable season and lead the NBA in losses. At least that team will make some money for bettors.
