Neighbours spoilers follow.

Neighbours star Paul Keane is reprising his role as Des Clarke as he makes a short-term return to Ramsay Street to help out Shelia Canning.

Shelia (Colette Mann) brings Des home when she tells him that Clive Gibbons is messing around with his ex-partner and good friend Jane Harris. Shelia hopes to use Des to break-up Clive (Geoff Paine) and Jane (Annie Jones) so that she can get back together with Clive.

When Des finds out, he's not impressed with Shelia and confronts her about her manipulative behaviour. However, the consequences are terrible for Des as during their argument, Shelia has a heart attack.

Speaking to Inside Soap, Keane said: "Being the nice bloke he is, Des feels obligated to Shelia. That makes him more able to be used by Shelia, and manipulated into carrying out her dastardly deeds!"

Keane also mentioned Des' personality type and how Shelia will continue to use him for her plan when she returns home from the hospital.

"Des is a very loyal person and Shelia takes advantage of that to get what she wants," he added.

Keane went on to reveal that he wouldn't return to Neighbours full-time due to other commitments in his life, but would like to be involved in the soap still.

"I live in Sydney, and Neighbours is filmed in Melbourne. Relocating is fine when you're young, but I'm getting on a bit! I like the idea of popping back every now and again for a visit though, that would be really cool," he explained.

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5 (UK) and 6.30pm on 10 Peach (Australia).
