‘American Horror Story: Double Feature’ Teaser Shows Aliens and Humanoids French Kissing (TV News Roundup)

FX released a teaser for “American Horror Story: Double Feature,” premiering on Aug. 25 at 10 p.m.

The 10th installment of “American Horror Story,” which will be available the next day on FX on Hulu, will begin with “Part 1: Red Tide” and “Part 2: Death Valley.” In the teaser, worlds collide as aliens and sharp-toothed humanoids French kiss.

Amazon Prime Video announced that the fourth and final season of “Goliath” will premiere on Sept. 24. In the final season, Billy (Bob Thornton), returns to his Big Law roots after Patty (Nina Arianda) takes a job at a prestigious firm in San Francisco. As their partnership is put to the test, they attempt to take down the opioid industry. Also starring Tania Raymonde, Diana Hopper, Julie Brister, Bruce Dern, Brandon Scott, Jena Malone and J.K. Simmons, the series is executive produced by Lawrence Trilling, Geyer Kosinski, Jennifer Ames and Steve Turner.

Netflix released a trailer for Paris Hilton’s “Cooking with Paris,” premiering on Aug. 4. The six-episode series follows the titular Paris Hilton as she navigates new recipes, new ingredients and “exotic kitchen appliances.” She is joined by special guests who act as sous chefs, including Kim Kardashian, Nikki Glaser, Demi Lovato, Saweetie, Lele Pons, Kathy Hilton and Nicky Hilton. Aaron Saidman, Eli Holzman, Rebecca Hertz and Hilton executive produce, with The Intellectual Property Corporation serving as the production company. Watch the trailer below.

Steve Martin, Selena Gomez and Martin Short attempt to solve a murder in the trailer for Hulu’s “Only Murders In The Building,” premiering Aug. 31. The comedic murder-mystery follows three true crime-obsessed strangers piecing together clues after a man is murdered in their New York City apartment building. As they record a podcast to document the case, they unravel complex secrets of the building that stretch back years and wonder whether the killer might be living amongst them. “Only Murders In The Building” is co-created by Martin and John Hoffman, who executive produce alongside Short, Gomez, Jamie Babbit, Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal. Paramount Plus released a trailer for “The J Team,” premiering on Sept. 3. The live-action musical stars JoJo Siwa as JoJo, a young girl whose life is turned upside down when her beloved dance coach, Val (Laura Soltis), retires and is replaced by the harsh Poppy (Tisha Campbell-Martin). Also starring Julia Marley, Kerrynton Jones and Kiara T. Romero, “The J Team” is directed by Michael Lembeck, written by Eydie Faye, executive produced by Don Dunn and produced by Ron French. Netflix released a trailer for “Untold,” the streamer’s upcoming sports docuseries from “Wild, Wild Country” creators Chapman Way and Maclain Way. “Untold” is a series of five 80-minute documentary films that each highlight some historic moments and icons in sports. The first one to launch, on Aug. 10, is “Malice at the Palace,” which showcases the brawl between the Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers and fans at The Palace in Auburn, Mich. in 2004. What was hailed as the “most infamous brawl in NBA history,” according to the Associated Press, started after NBA player Ron Artest got water thrown on him and charged after a fan. The subsequent four films are “Deal With the Devil,” “Caitlyn Jenner,” “Crime and Penalties” and “Breaking Point.” They will stream one per week from Aug. 17 to Sept. 7. The series is executive produced by the Ways, who also direct. Other directors on the series are Floyd Russ, Laura Brownson and Crystal Moselle. Watch the trailer below.

CASTING

Game Show Network has named Ahmad Rashad host of a new wordplay game show, “Tug of Words.” The half-hour original series will premiere in the fall. In the competition series, two teams will face off against each other, answering word clue questions and pulling the flag on the “tug of war rope” to their side. “Tug of Words” is produced by Embassy Row, LLC, with Michael Davies and Susan Warner executive producing.

PARTNERSHIPS

FX has extended its partnership with The New York Times, ordering additional documentary films under “The New York Times Presents” banner. The documentary team behind “Framing Britney Spears” and “The Killing of Breonna Taylor” is gearing up for a film about e-cigarette giant Juul to be released in September.

HOME ENTERTAINMENT

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment announced that “Smallville: The Complete Series 20th Anniversary Edition” will be released on Blu-ray on Oct. 19. The DVD set will include all 10 seasons and 218 episodes of the Superman series, along with audio commentaries, deleted and extended scenes, gag reels, behind-the-scenes featurettes and more. “Smallville” was developed for television by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar, and its executive producers have included Michael Tollin, Brian Robbins, Joe Davola, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, James Marshall, Brian Peterson, Kelly Souders, Todd Slavkin, Darren Swimmer, Greg Beeman, Ken Horton and Tom Welling. The series is from Tollin/Robbins Productions, Millar/Gough Ink and Warner Bros. Television.
