Yahoo Finance Netflix unveils first trailer for Britney Spears conservatorship documentary
Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for new documentary Britney vs Spears, which explores the iconic pop star's mental health and her ongoing fight against her family's controversial conservatorship over her.
The promo opens with Spears, via voiceover, saying "I just want my life back," before another person can be heard adding: "Britney's been silenced to speak out about anything that's really been going on."
"Britney's never had one person she could trust," continues photographer Adnan Ghalib. "Not mum, not her dad."
"What was going on inside the conservatorship?" director Erin Lee Carr asks. "And why was she still in one if she was, quote unquote, okay? There was financial incentive for [her father] Jamie, for the lawyers. Britney made other people a lot of money."

"I've worked all my life," Spears also states in the clip. "I don't owe these people anything."
According to a press release issued by the streaming platform, Britney vs Spears is set to tell "the explosive story of Britney's life and her public and private search for freedom" through years-long investigative work, messages, new interviews and never-before-seen documents that trace the singer's "trajectory from girl next door to a woman trapped by fame and family and her own legal status".
"The full story has yet to be told," Netflix teased.
It also promises to depict Spears's life "without utilising the traumatic images that have previously defined her" much like last year's the New York Times documentary Framing Britney Spears.

Dan Cogan, Liz Garbus, Jon Bardin, Julie Gaither, Jenny Eliscu and Amy Herdy (Allen v Farrow) act as executive producers.
Earlier this month, Britney's father Jamie Spears officially filed a petition to end the conservatorship.
Jamie's primary attorney Vivian Thoreen announced in a statement: "Ms Spears has told this Court that she wants control of her life back without the safety rails of a conservatorship.
"As Mr Spears has said, again and again, all he wants is what is best for his daughter. If Ms Spears wants to terminate the conservatorship and believes that she can handle her own life, Mr Spears believes that she should get that chance."
