Could Tom Brady end up with the San Francisco 49ers?

It appears increasingly likely that Tom Brady won’t be returning to the New England Patriots.

So, could he be heading to one of the NFL’s marquee franchises?

Brady is slated to become an unrestricted free agent later this month and several teams are reportedly in the mix for his services — including the Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers and Tennessee Titans.

It seems credible to add the San Francisco 49ers to the list.

NFL Network’s Deion Sanders outlined the case for Brady to join the 49ers in free agency, one where he also sees the club trading Jimmy Garoppolo back to the Patriots.

“Let me tell you something. San Francisco has a window of opportunity. You as well as I know that window closes expeditiously. You gotta seize it right now. I love Garoppolo, trust me. Tom Brady’s the quarterback in the Super Bowl? I feel like there’s a different outcome. You got two years, man. Get it done. I would do it. You give New England what they want, you give San Fran what they want,” Sanders said, via Josh Schrock of NBC Sports.

Tom Curran of NBC Sports also recently added fuel to the flames.

“First, Brady would love to play there," Curran wrote. "Second, as much as Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan likes Garoppolo, I’ve been told by multiple sources that he’s got some reservations about Garoppolo’s ceiling and overall decision making."

San Francisco would only incur $4.2 million in dead cap space if they cut Garoppolo before April 1 or trade him before June 1, making this scenario all the more plausible.

No one really knows where Brady is heading, but the six-time champion could very well be heading back to his boyhood club to close out his storied career.
