Yahoo Finance Jared Goff will start for Rams vs. Packers, John Wolford ruled out
Quarterback Jared Goff will start his first game since Week 16 on Saturday when the Los Angeles Rams take on the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round of the NFC playoffs.
Head coach Sean McVay made the announcement Thursday, and also announced that quarterback John Wolford will be inactive.

Goff didn’t start the Rams’ past two games after getting surgery on the thumb of his throwing hand. Wolford, his backup, started in his place in Week 17 and against the Seattle Seahawks during wild-card weekend. Goff wasn’t supposed to take the field against the Seahawks, but was pressed into service when Wolford went down with a neck injury following a hit from safety Jamal Adams.
Wolford was taken to the hospital in an ambulance as a precaution, but was quickly released and able to celebrate with his teammates after the Rams won. He hasn’t practiced all week, but McVay said he will travel with the team.
Goff, who had three pins inserted into his thumb during surgery, completed nine of 19 passes for 155 yards against the Seahawks. His accuracy wasn’t quite there, which is what you’d expect from a guy who had surgery on his thumb a few weeks ago, but he avoided making any major mistakes. He’ll be one more week removed from surgery when he takes the field Saturday, but no one knows how his thumb will react in the frigid cold of Green Bay.
