Jonas performed double duty on Saturday (27 February), acting as both host and musical guest.
Naturally, the singer also starred in a number of sketches throughout the show.
Among those segments was a song specifically written for the occasion, about “murder shows”. Jonas stars at the beginning of the skit as the partner of a woman portrayed by Chloe Fineman.
After Jonas heads out for the night, Fineman’s character, as well as other women played by Ego Nwodim, Melissa Villaseñor, and Kate McKinnon, rejoice at the prospect of practicing “a little self-care” by watching a “murder show”.
All four women rhapsodise about their true-crime watching habits, until Jonas returns from his evening out.
“You do realise there’s a type of show that’s even better than murder shows, right?” Jonas asks.
“Wait, what?” Fineman replies.
“Oh yeah,” Jonas tells her before breaking into song about his own obsession: “Cult shows”.
Villaseñor then tries to get the group to celebrate “baking shows”, to no avail. “What? I like baking shows,” she tells the rest of the cast defensively. “Whatever. Screw you guys.”
