Nicole Kidman revealed her striking new pixie cut as she posed on the set of her latest TV series Roar.

The Hollywood star shared a side profile picture of herself sporting her new red crop while raising her arm as though touching the rainbow in the sky behind her.

"On set #Roar #FemaleFilmmakers," Kidman captioned the photo.

Fans were loving her bold new look - although it's not certain whether the actress has had her long hair cut or whether she was wearing a wig for her role. Kidman is known for her long red curls, though she has often lamented straightening it too much when she was younger. "Do I wish that I hadn't screwed up my hair by straightening it all the time? Sure," she previously told The Sydney Morning Herald.

"This is so majestic and just fabulous!!! Go off my Queen," one fan commented.

Kidman is currently filming Apple TV+ anthology series Roar, based on Cecelia Ahern's book of short stories. The drama will feature eight, half-hour episodes, each told from a female point of view. The cast includes Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo, Unbelievable's Merritt Weaver, and Glow's Alison Brie.

The star has also reunited with show-runner David E Kelley for Nine Perfect Strangers, adapted from the best-selling novel by Liane Moriarty. Kidman collaborated with Kelley on The Undoing and Big Little Lies, adapted from another of Moriarty's novels.

The story follows a seemingly serene wellness guru Masha (Kidman) who runs a luxury retreat called Tranquillium. When nine guests arrive at the centre, instead of entering the path to enlightenment, their lives begin to slowly unravel.

The series also stars Melissa McCarthy and Luke Evans. The first three episodes will launch on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, August 20.
