Norm Powell goes off for 23-point first half against Warriors

The last time the Toronto Raptors visited the Golden State Warriors on the road, it was point guard Kyle Lowry that took over early. Lowry scored the first 11 points of Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals, setting the stage for the Raptors to finish the series off in style and capture their first championship.

On Thursday night, it was Norm Powell’s turn to torment the Warriors, spoiling some of Steph Curry’s return appearance with a phenomenal effort in the first half.

Powell was absolutely in his bag in the early going against the Dubs, hitting pull up 3’s, driving to the cup, and generally having his way with a Warriors defence that was missing Draymond Green and lacking anyone with the ability to stay in front of him.

He finished the first half with 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting, including 3-of-7 from three-point range in 18 minutes.

The performance makes it four straight appearances of 20-plus points for Powell since returning from injury, and continues the strongest and most consistent run of play of his career.

For the season, Powell came into the game averaging career highs with 15.9 points in 28.9 minutes per game.
