Norwich vs Liverpool: Carabao Cup prediction, kick off time, TV, live stream, team news, lineups, h2h results, odds today

(ES Composite)

Liverpool will look to continue their fine start to the new season when they travel to meet Premier League strugglers Norwich in the Carabao Cup tonight.

The Canaries have lost five-out-of-five so far in the league to sit rock-bottom following their promotion from the Championship, with their 6-0 hammering of Bournemouth in the last round of this competition representing their only positive result of the season so far.

Liverpool, by contrast, have made an excellent start, unbeaten in their opening five matches to sit level with Chelsea at the top of the Premier League, the two sides sharing identical records.

Given their Premier League and European success under Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool have been strangely poor in the domestic cup competitions in recent years, their last success coming in this competition back in 2012.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Norwich vs Liverpool is scheduled for a 7:45pm BST kick-off tonight - Tuesday, September 21, 2021.

Norwich vs Liverpool team news

Jurgen Klopp rotated his side heavily across the course of Liverpool’s last two games and is likely to give more opportunities to fringe players here, meaning the potential for more minutes for the likes of Divock Origi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Summer signing Ibrahima Konate could be handed another start, while Nat Phillips - who was key in the midst of last season’s defensive injury crisis but has slipped well down the pecking order as players have returned - will also be keen to be involved.

Harvey Elliott and Roberto Firmino remain out, while Thiago Alcantara is unlikely to feature after limping off against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Starting Liverpool lineup

Kelleher, Bradley, Konate, Gomez, Tsimikas, Keita, Jones, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gordon, Minamino, Origi

Norwich vs Liverpool prediction

Given Liverpool are likely to field a weakened side, Norwich could fancy their chances of at least pushing Klopp’s men all the way but much will depend on Daniel Farke’s own team selection - will he go all out in pursuit of a morale-boosting result or will he, too, rest players, with the Premier League relegation fight his priority?
