NSA to Kick Off National "Day of Cyber"at RSA 2016

2 Million Students to Begin Their Cyber Career LifeJourney

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - February 18, 2016) - RSA Conference 2016 -- LifeJourney announced today at the upcoming RSA 2016 conference it will launch the Day of Cyber -- a national initiative to address the cyber skills crisis and raise the "Cyber IQ" of the nation. Since registration opened three months ago, two million students and educators have pre-registered for the free Day of Cyber online program to begin their cyber career journey. The Day of Cyber LifeJourney is designed to engage millions of students in an interactive Cybersecurity Mentorship Experience that enables them to test-drive their future by living a day in the life of the nation's cybersecurity leaders. The Day of Cyber begins with NSA's Cyber Situation. (Preview the experience)

Recently Forbes published a forecast that there will be 1 Million open and unfilled cybersecurity positions available by the end of 2016. Job growth in cybersecurity is expected to rise ten fold over the next 10 years without enough qualified talent to keep pace, according to the San Jose State University Jay Pinson STEM Education Center. All these data points underscore the depth of the nation's cyber skills shortage.

"Cybersecurity is the modern equivalent of the space race. The need for the development of a cyber generation is impacting culture and education in much the same way the space race did in the 1960's. Cyber technology is the new alphabet and is now the base foundation for so many digital opportunities for the future," Remarked Robert Rodriguez, Chairman and Founder of SINET.

Every Student Gets a Cyber Mentor

The Day of Cyber is an online cybersecurity mentorship experience and is powered by leading corporations and government agencies who provide their cybersecurity leaders to become role models to the the nation's students. These mentors introduce cybersecurity through an online experience where students test drive cyber careers and select which mentor they would like to guide them through their journey. The LifeJourney mentors provide students with a pathway to build the hard and soft skills they will need for new and emerging in demand cyber careers. The Day of Cyber online experience is available to any student or teacher with access to the Internet. The Day of Cyber experience is available to be run by schools and organizations anytime throughout the year. Schools, teachers, organizations, parents and students can register to take part in Day of Cyber at http://nsadayofcyber.com.
