Former NSYNC band member Lance Bass welcomed twins via surrogate with his husband Michael Turchin on Wednesday (October 13).

After announcing in June that they would be expecting twins in early November, the couple shared the happy news on Instagram about the birth of their children, who were born prematurely.

The couple have named the new arrivals Violet Betty and Alexander James.

Bass wrote, "The baby dragons have arrived. I can not express how much love I feel right now. Thank you for all the kind wishes. It meant a lot. Now, how do you change a diaper?"

Alexander James was born first at 1:24pm, with Violet Betty following along just a minute later, finally bringing happy news to the two dads after a long struggle with trying to become parents.

Bass and Turchin started searching for a surrogate in 2018, and have since had nine failed surrogacy attempts. The couple told Entertainment Tonight in March 2020 that their surrogate lost had sadly their child to a miscarriage.

He said, "We unfortunately lost him after eight weeks, which happens to pretty much everyone when you're going through IVF. I didn't even know that as we were going through this, but we've met so many great couples who have the same story."

Bass and Turchin, who is a painter and an actor, started dating in January 2011, and got married in Los Angeles in December 2014. The wedding was filmed for E!, with the couple becoming the first same-sex couple to exchange vows on cable television.

Bass was a singer in boyband NSYNC, alongside Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick and Joey Fatone, who 'went on hiatus' in 2002 but have never recorded any more music or toured together again.
