OfflineTV's charity Valorant invitational tournament has come to an end, with DisguisedToast's team crowned the winners.
Taking place this past weekend (April 18-19), the event saw five teams – made up of OfflineTV members and friends – competing on the hero shooter for charity. The tournament raised $70,000 for Inspiring Children Foundation, Stop AAPI Hate, St Jude, ACLU Foundation, and Rise Above the Disorder.
Teams played each other once, before the top two faced off in the final.
The teams lead by DisguisedToast and LilyPichu qualified for the final match after they secured three wins and one loss each.
Team Lily had beaten Team Toast by a score of 13-11 earlier in their round-robin match. And it looked like the final, which was played on Split, might see a repeat result as they surged to a 10-4 lead.
But Team Toast – comprised of DisguisedToast, Valkyrae, Natsumiii, Kristofer Yee, and Peter Park – fought back and dominated defence, as they remarkably reeled off nine games in a row to secure a 13-10 victory.
The comeback was complete in the last round when Peter killed Myth and defused the spike.
As a result of the win, $28,000 of the $70,000 in donations will go to DisguisedToast's selected charity Inspiring Children Foundation, with $21,000 heading to Stop AAPI Hate, which LilyPichu was representing.
Team Toast was seen by some before the event as a slight underdog, but they impressed with standout teamwork and communication throughout as well as strong defensive play and use of utility.
Team Poki finished third in the tournament, narrowly missing out on a spot in the final after a 13-11 defeat by Team Toast in the last round-robin match. They ended with two wins and two losses.
With one win apiece, Teams Michael and Scarra came fourth and fifth respectively.
