“It’s pretty cool, right?” Canada Basketball CEO Glen Grunwald said to Sportsnet’s Michael Grange. “I think they want to support the women’s team, assist in the growth of women’s sports and help the women’s team move forward. It’s a smart move for everybody.”
OVO has partnered extensively with the Toronto Raptors in recent years. Drake’s brand sponsored the Raptors’ practice facility, which has since been re-named as the OVO Athletic Centre and is host to Canada Basketball’s men and women’s national teams. Drake serves as the Raptors’ global ambassador and is a fixture at the team’s most important games, trolling the Golden State Warriors incessantly during the 2019 NBA Finals.

Canada squares off against Belgium on Thursday, before playing Sweden on Saturday and Japan on Sunday. It will need to finish no worse than second in its group in order to qualify for the Olympics, as Japan has already qualified as the host country.
This is a deep and talented Canadian roster, led by WNBA All-Star Kia Nurse and they’ll now enter with some spectacular drip ahead of its latest challenge.
