On this episode of In The Know: Beauty School, host Patrick Ta shares his beauty tips for making your makeup last. From his favorite long-wearing products to application techniques, the beauty guru gives his advice for a long-lasting makeup look.

Ta’s first trick to a lasting face of makeup is primer. Ta uses the Make Up Forever Hydra Booster Primer beneath the model’s foundation, which allows the makeup to last for up to 12 hours. Ta personally loves this primer because of the “lightweight finish.”

Next, Ta uses the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Matte Setting Powder. When it comes to application, Ta explains, “You wanna just take a nice fluffy brush… [and] you wanna put it onto the areas that are the same color as your foundation.” Ta also notes that he likes to keep the under-eye area nice and bright, so he avoids putting the powder there.

And when it comes to the tools used to apply the setting powder, Ta recommends two different options. You can either apply the powder using a brush—like the Sephora Pro Powder Brush—or you can use a powder puff, like Beautyblender’s Power Pocket Puff.

When it comes to a long-lasting makeup look, “a waterproof mascara is definitely key,” says Ta. The makeup expert opts for Patrick Ta Major Volume Mascara because if you want your makeup to last all day and all night, “using a waterproof mascara is really going to allow your lashes to stay nice and curled,” he explains.

Finally, nobody wants to be touching up their lipstick all day. Ta recommends a liquid matte lipstick, which will allow you to avoid constant reapplication throughout the day. Ta first lines the model’s lips with a Patrick Ta Major Beauty Headlines Precision Lip Crayon and then fills in the lips with Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid Lip Color by Fenty Beauty.

Last but not least, Ta sprays some Make Up For Ever Mist & Fix Hydrating Setting Spray to set the makeup look. This spray in particular can help makeup last for up to 12 hours.

“You wanna spray this onto the perimeter of the face,” Ta explains. “This is really going to lock all of the foundation, all of the powder into place.” After letting the spray settle and dry, you’ll be ready to hit the town with a long-lasting makeup look!
