Paul O'Grady's award-winning series on our canine friends, For the Love of Dogs, will premiere a new series as planned next month.

The eleventh and final series will air posthumously after the beloved comedian, presenter and drag icon sadly died earlier this week.

Scheduled to be released on ITV from Thursday, 13 April, the new batch of episodes will follow the host and animal lover at London's Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

There, O'Grady, who was an ambassador for the charity for many years, talks to staff members about the furry friends in their care, helping them find forever homes.

Tributes poured in for O'Grady after he passed away "unexpectedly but peacefully" earlier this month at the age of 67.

His husband Andre Portasio shared the sad news in a statement, writing: "It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening.

"He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion. I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years."

Following the announcement, Battersea Dogs & Cats Home chief executive Peter Laurie called the ambassador "a devoted animal lover with the biggest heart, who fell head over heels in love with every dog he met at our centres".

The royal family also tweeted in honour of O'Grady, who worked with Queen Consort Camilla on a Royal Special of the show, which premiered last December and aired again on Wednesday (29 March) in tribute to O'Grady.

"Deeply saddened to hear of the death of Paul O'Grady, who worked closely with Her Majesty in support of @Battersea_, providing lots of laughter and many waggy-tailed memories," the tweet reads.

ITV will also air a tribute titled For the Love of Paul O'Grady on Sunday evening (2 April), and the BBC will air a classic episode of Blankety Blank, which O'Grady hosted as his trailblazing drag persona Lily Savage for a number of years, on Saturday (1 April) at 7pm.

Paul O'Grady: For the Love of Dogs will premiere on April 13 at 8.30pm on ITV. To find out more about the work of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, visit its official website.
