The Pittsburgh Penguins’ injury woes continue as defenseman Brian Dumoulin required surgery to repair lacerated tendons in his left ankle after Saturday’s game against the St. Louis Blues.

He’s expected to be sidelined for a minimum of eight weeks.

Dumoulin was injured on his first shift after Blues forward Zach Sanford fell onto the back of his legs on Saturday night.

Dumoulin has seven points in 22 games this season while averaging 21:04 minutes per game, the second-highest ice time average on the team.

This latest injury adds to the long list of Penguins on the IR, which includes defenseman Justin Schultz, who is out indefinitely due to an undisclosed injury. Forwards Sidney Crosby and Nick Bjugstad are also sidelined, both with core muscle injuries, plus an undisclosed injury for forward Bryan Rust.
