Police Warning As Suspect Hunted Over Shooting

Police Warning As Suspect Hunted Over Shooting

A manhunt is underway in Somerset following a fatal shooting at a travellers' camp.

Armed police and helicopters are involved in the search for 23-year-old Charlie Broadway, after one man was shot dead and another injured in an incident at Chubbards Cross caravan site near Ilton, Somerset.

Police have warned the public that he "poses a risk" and should not be approached.

Officers were called to the site just before 8pm on Thursday.

One man in his 50s died at the scene while the other - in his 20s - suffered "non life-threatening" injuries.

It is believed Charlie Broadway and the men who were shot may have lived at the site.

A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with the incident and specialist officers are supporting the victim's family.

Head of the Major Crime Investigation Team, Detective Superintendent Andy Bevan said: "We would like to reassure local communities that this was a domestic incident, contained to one site. All those involved were known to each other.

"We're using every resource available to us, including the helicopter, to locate and arrest Charlie Broadway but I would appeal directly to him to hand himself in now.

"We don't believe that he poses a significant risk to the wider community but anyone who sees him should not approach him but call us immediately on 999.

"We have arrested a man and a woman in connection with this inquiry and they remain in custody.

"Anyone wishing to report any sightings of Charlie Broadway, should contact us immediately via 999, quoting log number 1051 of 5 May."
