Polish shoe retailer CCC reports record daily sales after malls reopen

WARSAW (Reuters) - Poland's biggest shoe retailer CCC saw its highest ever daily revenues on Saturday when shopping malls reopened after a three-week lockdown, the company said on Monday.

To stop a sharp rise in new coronavirus cases Poland closed most shops in shopping centres at the start of November. They reopened last Saturday, as the number of infections had started to fall.

CCC, whose products include Sprandi sports shoes and Lasocki and Jenny Fairy accessories, sells mostly in shopping centres.

"Last Saturday, the first day of trade after a three-week lockdown, was the best day in CCC history in terms of revenues," CCC Chief Executive Marcin Czyczerski said in a statement.

Sales were driven up by both the end of lockdown and Black Friday offers, he said. The company said 860 out of its 1,050 shops are now open.
