Pornhub is now accepting cryptocurrency to offer anonymous payments

Cryptocurrency Verge has signed a partnership with adult entertainment site Pornhub.

Customers will be able to pay for all Pornhub on-demand purchases via the new method – something fans of the site have been wanting for a while.

Pornhub said a crypto payment method topped a list of suggestions on the site’s feedback forum.

Pornhub opted to use Verge because of its focus on anonymity. Verge allows anonymous transactions by obscuring the IP address and location of its users so they are untraceable

“Our acceptance of Verge is an affirmation of our dedication to innovation and privacy, which recently has caused much concern and been at the forefront of all tech consumers’ minds,” said Pornhub vice president Corey Price.

“We’re extremely excited to offer our fans the ability to use crypto and think Verge, with its focus on anonymity, is the best option – whether for privacy, convenience or both.”

The move is seen to add legitimacy to the cryptocurrency market and demonstrate that adult entertainment is once again at the fore when it comes to new technology.

Price added: “History has proven that the adult entertainment industry plays a critical role in adoption for innovative technology. We saw that with VHS, Beta Max, credit card payment icons and, most recently, VR goggles. We expect to see widespread adoption of crypto and blockchain in short order.”

Verge (XVG) was created in 2014 and originally called DogeCoinDark. It rebranded in 2016 and prides itself on being for everyday use, offering a “fast, efficient and decentralized way of making direct transactions while maintaining personal privacy”.

In addition to Pornhub, Verge will now be accepted by pornographic production company Brazzers, and adult gaming portal Nutaku.

Pornhub says it “will explore accepting more cryptocurrencies” as it gains more experience with crypto.
