Manchester City are reigning champions and will look to retain the title after a relatively easy run at the trophy last season, though defeat to Chelsea - who are expected to be challenging next season - in the Champions League final means they have amends to make.
Liverpool scrapped into the top four last season but surely will not have as much injury woe over the coming months as they look to re-establish themselves at the top of English football. Manchester United, runners-up last season, are looking to stay in the fight.
There will be a new manager at Tottenham, likely Paulo Fonseca, and he will be hoping for a kind start in England after Spurs finished a lowly seventh under Jose Mourinho and then interim boss Ryan Mason.
Arsenal have plenty of catching up to do under Mikel Arteta, the boss overseeing the worst domestic campaign in a generation as they face a season without European football for the first time in 25 years.
